blemishes and breakouts

I thought that as I grew older I would stop getting acne- but unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. In some browsing of the internet, I discovered some interesting articles on what is called ‘skin mapping’ in relation to acne which I thought I would share with you. There seems to be some research to back this up (from the International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica)- but to tell you the truth its hard to place all my money on this. It just seems like something to keep in mind when dealing with blemishes and breakouts.

So let’s just quickly mark the different areas you may have break outs, why you make have break outs there, and things you can do to remedy those breakouts.

• Digestive problems (hard time breaking down certain foods)
Small intestine issues
• Liver issues
• Irregular sleep schedule
• Stress
• Too much sugary foods
• Hair products/Bangs
• Wearing dirty caps/hats

• Get enough sleep with a regular sleep schedule
• Drink plenty of water
• 20-30 minutes of light exercise every day
• Practice relaxation techniques to worry less
Eat healthy foods, chewing thoroughly
• Wash hats & caps

• Poor lymphatic circulation
Diet too high in fat
• Gallbladder issues
• Too much processed food

• Eat less processed food, junk food, and fast food
• Reduce the amount of fat in your diet
• Eat cooling foods like bitter melon, cucumbers, and gourds

Between Brows
• Weak heart
• Too much alcohol
• Too much tobacco

Exercise, but avoid strenuous exercise
• Get more sleep
• Avoid alcohol
• Avoid smoking

• Poor diet
• Constipation
• Bloating
• Gastrointestinal imbalance
• Indigestion
• Poor blood circulation if skin on nose peels

• Eat less pungent foods (spices, garlic, etc)
• Eat less meat
• Get more fresh air
• Exercise everyday (like going for a walk)
• Massage the area around your nose
• Make sure you are getting enough Vitamin B

• Lungs & Liver
• Overeating
• Nutrition hard to absorb
• Allergies
• Stress
• Stomach problems
• Too much sugar
• Dirty cell phones, pillow cases, or makeup brushes

• Maintain a normal daily routine
• Try to keep a positive mood
• Don’t let your body overheat
• Eat more cooling foods such as gourds, winter melons, and green beans
• Don’t overeat
• Try to decompress and relax
• Practice proper hygiene

Around Lips
• Constipation
• Irregular bowels
• Too much spicy or fried foods

• Eat more fiber
• Include more fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet
• Eat less spicy and fried foods
• Massage abdominal area in a clockwise motion
• Change your toothpaste

Chin and Jaw
Hormonal problems
• Gynecological issues
• Kidney imbalance (for under the face/chin pimples)
• Resting hands on face
• Toothpaste

• Reduce the habit of eating before bed
• Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables
• Get more rest
• Get your hormones checked
• Get 20 minutes of exercise each day
• Sleep early and wake up early
• Massage your body for relaxation
• Practice proper hygiene

Neck and Back
• Clothing Irritation
• Lotion/Perfume Irritation
• Lung Issues

• Change lotion or perfume
• Get more fresh air

Now- are these sure fire ways to avoid acne? I would probably guess no. (And please don’t freak out and think you are  super sick or that something is wrong with you heart or lungs- always consult you’re actual physician!) This is just interesting “nice to know” info. :)

    Very interesting… it really gives you a lot to think about. I wish I had known this when I was younger. I still think this is valuable information!
